About

Welcome to my website.

I am a wildlife photographer based in rural South Buckinghamshire and have had an avid interest and fascination in all things wildlife since a very young boy.

My story is a familiar one, and starts at around the age of seven or eight years old when I received my first pair of binoculars, a pair of Tasco 8x30's as a gift from my parents whilst on holiday on the South Coast. I would then sit for hours watching the abundant birdlife that graced those coastal habitats, then scour the pages of my trusty Hamlyn Guide to Birds of Britain noting down what species I had seen. From then onwards, during school holidays and the long summer evenings after school, I would spend every minute I could roaming the local countryside birdwatching and generally enjoying the nature that was on my doorstep, gleaning as much information about what I saw in the field and reading endless reference books relating to the wonderful wildlife we have all around us.
It was also around this time that I became interested in drawing and would spend many hours sketching my favourite species from books in an effort to replicate what I was seeing. I didn't realise it at the time but it would be these connections that would lead to an interest, or rather, an obsession for wildlife photography.

I received my first camera as a gift from my parents in my early teens, a 35mm SLR film camera, and set about learning all I could about the art of photography, I was absolutely hooked and couldn't wait to go about recording what I was seeing in the big outdoors, however, I very quickly realised that there were limitations to what I could do in terms of my kit and my photographic knowledge. There was an awful lot to learn and, to this day, still is!
It wasn't until the onslaught of the digital age that I became more serious about photography, the ability to be able to review what you have taken shot by shot in the field, and, allowing you to fix errors instantly was a revelation that rekindled my passion to photograph nature to obsession. By now I was pretty much devoting all my spare time and money into improving my skills, updating my gear and travelling all over the UK and further afield to photograph various subjects I was interested in.

I love all aspects of wildlife, my main interests in this field are birds and mammals, particularly UK species, and especially owls and other birds of prey but also appreciate a good macro and landscape image too.
Most recently, I have been fortunate and privileged enough to be able to work locally with a pair of wild Little Owls and have had a well established, professional hide at the site for the last six years, allowing me to observe, photograph and gain a tremendous amount of knowledge about their behaviour and life cycle, an incredibly rewarding project that I hope will continue far into the future.

All the images found on this website are of WILD subjects, NOT captive, and have all been captured in a professional, considerate and ethical manner as would be expected from any experienced wildlife photographer and I sincerely hope you enjoy browsing through my images as much as I have enjoyed capturing them, so please feel free to get in touch with me via the contact page for any more information or any enquiries you may have regarding any aspect of my photography I will be happy to answer your questions.

This is very much a work in progress, so please check back from time to time to see what's new.
